Meet Memphis a Golden Retriever Puppy from donated from Golden Puppies, donated to Monica Perry a Veteran in need of a dog for Service Dog Training.

Natalie and George Bradford of Golden Puppies offers low cost puppies to be placed with veterans for service dog training. They were happy to help a Veteran in Need when we reacted out them for puppy placement.

At Legend Acres we work with candidates for selection for puppy placement.

The two pairs are going to spend several weeks bonding with their puppies prior to starting with their service dog training classes in September 2023.

Meet Monika Perry & Memphis

My name is Monika Perry. I served on active duty in the Air Force for 10.5 years and in the Reserves for 4 years.

In 2019, I drove cross country from Memphis, Tennessee to Wickenburg, Arizona with my 13 year K9 partner Mojo.

The following year he died of natural causes. I was totally unprepared for the level of grief I felt, along with my co-occuring C-PTSD, MST, depression and anxiety.

Grief lead me to suicidal ideation, homelessness, addiction and agoraphobia. I felt hopeless, broken and abandoned.

Mr.Benjamin Jeffery from a caring non-profit called "Carry Me Forward" helped me find the perfect rehab... Vogue Recovery.

He also commuincated my needs to Kristi May of Legend Acres & Natayl Bradford of Golden Puppies in Whittman.

After graduating, the Vogue VALOR Inpatient Program I recieved the news that I'd been picked for the Legend's Heroes Service Dog Scholarship puppy.

The day of my puppy pickup I was so thankful but I could barely speak... it has been 17 days since that day.

I can't even remember what life was like without him. Memphis has healed my heart in places I didn't know existed and given me a new motivation and new hope for our future.

I am beyond grateful for this opportunity and can't wait to start training with Memphis.

About Legend's Heroes Service Dog Training Program:

Legend's Heroes Service Dog Training Program, offered through Legend Acres Dog and Horse Solutions, will bring an innovative approach to getting psychiatric service dogs to those who need them. Service dogs can help those recovering from PTSD accomplish daily tasks, provide situational assessments, and guide handlers out of stressful situations.

Legend's Heroes program was launched in March of 2020 and consisted of service dog training for service dog teams, including PTSD Service Dogs, Psychiatric Service Dogs, and Mobility Support. The trainers can determine if a person's current pet is appropriate for completing the Service Dog Certification Program or assist with dog selection to meet the criteria.

Through virtual and on-demand courses, participants in the program can complete their own time in a safe space for them.

Upon acceptance into the Legend's Heroes Service Dog Training Program, a participant can have a fully trained service animal under two years and $3000 or less. Traditional programs can take 1-4 years to get a psychiatric service dog in the hands of someone who needs them and can cost up to $15000.

The Legend Heroes Service Training Program is a two-year program consisting of an initial training plan of four canine obedience courses, public access test, and task dog training with follow up sessions over the next year.
