Who is Legend Acres Dog Training?
Legend Acres was founded by an experienced dog behavior specialist and Veterinary Technologist and provides flexible, evidence-based education to dogs of all ages and breeds.
The trainers at Legend Acres have all been through the Legend Acres Dog Training program with their own pet. They go through the very same courses you are taking. Through this experience, they learn first hand the effective methods they are going to teach you.
Legend Acres premier dog training program has an excellent reputation for taking a psychological approach to training from the animal's point of view. The highly customized group, private, and interactive online lessons are available to help.
Legend Acres offers a range of programs to meet any needs and concerns, including the introductory session for first-time customers, private sessions to teach better obedience and communication skills, and six-week group classes covering obedience and cognition.
We are here to help you raise puppies, train service dogs from start to finish, administer obedience training, and deal with severe behavior problems like anxiety and aggression.

Dog Training Classes in Arizona
Fundamentals Dog Training Class in Arizona
Fundamentals classes are designed to help you raise a well adjusted and well behaved puppy into a happy healthy dog.
Fundamentals classes include basic obedience training, leash walking, housebreaking, positive reinforcement of good behaviors, trust centered training and puppy socialization.
Group Classes open to puppies ages 12 weeks and up. Private Sessions open to puppies ages 10 weeks and up. Dog must have proof of a minimum of 3 DHLPP Vaccines and Rabies Vaccine.
After completion of this course your puppy will be qualified to take the AKC STAR Puppy Test.
Intermediate Dog Training Class in Arizona
This class builds on the basics skills learned in the fundamentals dog training class. We revisit basic obedience training, leash walking, positive reinforcement, and socialization and take them to the next level with time, distance and distractions.
Open to dogs ages 5 months and older OR have passed the AKC Star Puppy Test. Dog must have proof of a minimum of 3 DHLPP Vaccines, Bordetella Vaccine (kennel cough), and Rabies Vaccine.
After completion of this course, your dog will be qualified to take the AKC Canine Good Citizen (CGC) Test and become AKC certified.
Advanced Dog Training Class in Arizona
Advanced Dog Obedience classes build off the skills learned in Fundamentals and Intermediate classes. This class includes basic obedience training, leash walking, real life situations, positive reinforcement, working with multiple dogs, and socialization.
Open to dogs 1 year old and older and have passed the AKC Good Citizen Test. Dog must have proof of a minimum of 3 DHLPP Vaccines, Bordetella Vaccine (kennel cough), and Rabies Vaccine.
After completion of this course your dog will be qualified to take the AKC Community Canine Good Citizen (CGCA) Test
Urban Dog Training in Arizona
Advanced Urban Dog Obedience classes are designed to get dogs comfortable with every day urban life. This builds on the skills learned in the Advanced Obedience class and includes basic obedience training, leash walking in a busy environment, entering and exiting buildings, riding in an elevator, waiting at a cross walk, crossing a busy street, as well as positive reinforcement and socialization.
Open to dogs ages 1 year old and older and have passed the AKC Canine Good Citizen test. Dog must have proof of a minimum of 3 DHLPP Vaccines, Bordetella Vaccine (kennel cough), and Rabies Vaccine.
After completing this course, your dog will be qualified to take the AKC Urban Community Canine Good Citizen (CGCU) Test.
Sports and More
Agility Dog Training
Agility is a sport requiring some athleticism. The dog/handler team navigates an obstacle course consisting of Jumps, Tunnels, a Dog-Walk, a Table, an A-Frame, a Tire, and a Teeter-Totter.
Novice
Novice Agility Class introduces the dog/handler team to the sport; the dog becomes familiar with the equipment and the handler learns how to read a map and navigate the course.
Open to puppies and dogs ages 20 weeks and older who have some concept of Basic Obedience skills. Proof of Rabies Vaccine is required for class enrollment. DHLPP and Bordetella Vaccines are recommended.
Intermediate
Intermediate Agility Class starts to build on dog/handler skills and adds some speed. Handlers must have a minimum of Basic Agility skills.
Dogs must know how to follow handler direction and be familiar with Agility obstacles.
Proof of Rabies Vaccine is required for class enrollment. DHLPP and Bordetella Vaccines are recommended.
Rally Dog Training
Rally is a sport using pictures and words, instructing the dog/handler team to make specific maneuvers in a specific order and direction. The pictures and words are printed on Rally signs, held by sign holders, and placed on the ground. A Rally sign may instruct the team to take two steps forward and turn to the right, or to back-up three steps and have the dog sit.
Novice
The Novice Rally Class is open to puppies and dogs at least 20 weeks of age, with Basic Obedience skills.
Proof of Rabies Vaccine is required for class enrollment. DHLPP and Bordetella Vaccines are recommended.
Intermediate
Intermediate Rally Class builds on skills learned in Beginner Rally Class, and is open to dogs and handlers who have completed Beginner Rally Class or are currently competing in American Kennel Club Rally events.
Proof of Rabies Vaccine is required for class enrollment. DHLPP and Bordetella Vaccines are recommended.
Behavior Modification
Does your dog bark or lunge at other dogs or people, reactive to passing cars, or dog behind fences? BAT helps animals gain confidence and social skills. BAT is a natural method that creates an emotionally safe interaction with minimal intrusion. BAT is especially useful when the “triggers” for frustration, aggression, or fear are living beings, for example when dogs bark at or bite other dogs or people.
Workshop
Proof of Rabies Vaccine is required for class enrollment. DHLPP and Bordetella Vaccines are recommended.
Private sessions
Private behavior modification sessions are controlled sessions to work on leash reactivity to people, dogs, or objects using BAT 2.0 and BAT 3.0

Legend's Heroes Service Dog Training Program

Legend Acres is proud to present, Legend's Heroes Service Dog Training Program. Legend’s Heroes program was launched in March of 2020 and consists of service dog training for service dog teams to include PTSD Service Dogs, Psychiatric Service Dogs, and Mobility Support.
Our trainers can determine if your current pet is appropriate for completing the Service Dog Certification Program or assist with dog selection to meet the criteria.
Through virtual and on-demand courses, you can complete the training on your own time in a safe space for you.
