Legend Acres is proud to present our Pet Therapy Program, preparing dogs and handlers to become registered Pet Partners® therapy teams. Therapy animals bring comfort, connection, and joy to people in hospitals, schools, senior living, and community settings.


Our trainers can help determine if your pet is a good candidate for therapy work and guide you through every step — from readiness training to the official team evaluation.

Volunteering with Legend Acres Pet Therapy

You don’t need a pet to make a difference! Our Pet Therapy Program in Arizona depends on dedicated volunteers who support therapy dog teams as they prepare for Pet Partners® certification. By volunteering, you help create real-life scenarios that teams will encounter in hospitals, schools, senior centers, and community organizations.
Who Can Volunteer?
  • Volunteers of all ages are welcome! (Youth under 16 may join with a parent or guardian.)
  • No prior experience needed — we provide all training and guidance.
  • Perfect for veterans, first responders, healthcare professionals, educators, retirees, students, and community members who care about service and animals.
How You’ll Help
  • Role-play with props such as wheelchairs, walkers, canes, and books to simulate real therapy visit settings.
  • Assist during classes, prep workshops, and evaluations by interacting with dogs and handlers.
  • Provide encouragement and support as teams practice the skills they’ll need in the community.

How To Get Started

Schedule A Free Consultation

During this call we discuss your goals for a Therapy Dog, where you are in the process of getting started and whether you have a dog that meets the requirements or if you need assistance finding a dog that does. 

Start with Fundamentals

All Therapy Teams will start in the Fundamentals Course in-person on with our Online Dog Training Program.  

Even if you dog has the basics down, we go over how dogs learn and training commands that will be imperative to completing the remaining courses.  

Register with Pet Partners

Once registered, you and your pet will be recognized as an official Pet Partners® therapy team, eligible to volunteer in hospitals, schools, senior living facilities, libraries, and community programs.
